Erté

Romain de Tirtoff also known as Erté was famous illustrator and designer. Erté was born in 1892 in Saint-Petersburg, Russia. He was born torich aristocratic family. His parents wanted him to become a naval officer as his father. But Erte wanted absolutely different career. He was literally captivated by fashion, arts, dancing and design. “I came to the conclusion that I could live without dancing but could not give up my passion for painting and design”, recalled Erté years later. At the age of 19 Erte left Saint-Petersburg for Paris. Finally his parents allowed him to pursue his dream. Actually he promised his parents he would become an architect. But he lied. In fact he never wanted to be an architect. He was interested in illustration exceptionally. But Erte had to do something to make his parents let him go.

Yayoi Kusama.

Japanese art can be surprising and strange. It can even shock you. The name of the Japanese artist Yayoi Kusama is well known outside Japan mainly because she spent some time living in New York City until the very beginning of the 1970s. If you have never heard about her then you will be really surprised to find out that Yayoi Kusama influenced Andy Warhol and Claes Oldenburg art. Her works are bright and recognizable at the same time as she is pretty interested in psychedelic colors. Yayoi Kusama’s works include installations, sculpture, paintings, performance art, collages, and literature. At first sight her works seem to be quite simple as she exploits exaggerated geometrical forms and rhythm as well as patterns and repetition. Nothing special. But at the same time simple forms are used by the artist unpredictably and unexpectedly.

Fashion Taboos

Everyone would probably agree that to look smart is possible without blind following every fashion tendency. To say more there is a fact that is difficult to contest. To look smart one should be aware of the long term fashion preferences and the fashion taboos. This is the list of what not to do if you don’t wish to be considered a tacky girl.

  • Long nails with painted flowers or merry patterns. At first if your nails are painted not carefully this is the same thing as wearing smeared-out lipstick. The defects on your nails are as easy to see as the ones in your make-up. Long nails have never been trendy actually. They were the professional need of nail artists, as it is easier to create a picture on a larger surface. You certainly don’t want to look as Cruella, as the long nails seem comical. If you look around you’ll notice that women with fine taste wear moderately long naturally shaped nails painted with a calm warm-colored nail enamel.
